Syringe Sterilization Equipment
Sterilization of syringes typically employs either ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization technology or steam sterilization. Our EO equipment precisely regulates temperature, humidity, and gas concentration to ensure effective and stable sterilization.
What is Ethylene Oxide Sterilization
Ethylene oxide sterilization is an advanced and efficient method of gas sterilization. By precisely controlling the humidity, temperature, and pressure inside the chamber, and with the strong penetrating characteristic of ethylene oxide gas, it can greatly interfere with the metabolism and reproduction of microorganisms. As this is a low-temperature and negative-pressure sterilization technology, it achieves precise sterilization without damaging medical equipment. This technology is widely used for medical devices that are sensitive to moisture and heat, including disposable syringes.
Our syringe production line includes the solution for ethylene oxide sterilizers. Depending on the customer’s production capacity, we offer customized options ranging from 5 to 60 cubic meters. Since sterilization typically takes 12-16 hours, selecting the appropriate sterilizer is crucial. Our professional staff can assist customers in calculating production capacity and providing suitable solutions.
Syringe Ethylene Oxide Sterilization Process
The workflow of ethylene oxide sterilization is a process of strictly controlling the variables of the environment, utilizing ethylene oxide gas to sterilize the product in batches, as well as eliminating the toxic gases after the end of sterilization, and ensure there is no harmless to the human body.
It is mainly divided into the following two processes:
Sterilization stage
During the sterilization stage, the sterilization program runs automatically in a sealed chamber. The chamber is evacuated, humidified, and gassed. Once the temperature, humidity, and gas concentration reach certain values, sterilization is achieved after 5–8 hours. The sterilization time can be adjusted as needed. For syringe products, blister packaging can improve gas penetration.
Exhausting and EO Residual Removal
After sterilization is complete, indoor air exhaust and removal of EO residuals must be performed. First, a vacuum pump is used to extract the EO gas from the room. Then, filtered sterile hot air is introduced to expel any EO redisual adsorbed by the products during sterilization stage, reducing the EO value to a safe level that does not have any bad effect on humans.
Why is EO Sterilization the Preferred Method for Syringe Sterilization?
Ethylene oxide sterilization is globally recognized as the most suitable method for sterilizing syringes. This is not only because the ethylene oxide sterilization process is suitable for the plastic properties of disposable syringes, but also because it can achieve sterilization effects efficiently in large batches at a lower cost and with greater safety, making it widely used around the world.
The following diagram clearly illustrates the advantages of EO sterilization in disposable syringe projects:
